Why Pilates for Foot & Ankle Pain?

Introduction to Pilates Physical Therapy

Pilates physical therapy is a specialized approach to rehabilitation and fitness that integrates the principles of Pilates with traditional physical therapy techniques. It focuses on improving strength, flexibility, balance, and overall body awareness to promote optimal movement patterns.

Foot “Core” Activation

One key aspect of Pilates physical therapy is the focus on foot position and control as you are barefoot during the entire session. Because our foot is our body’s only point of contact with the ground, it must work well for ALL activities of daily living that involves locomotion. Working on activation of small intrinsic muscles (aka “foot core”) as well as mobilization of small bones is of outermost importance to ensure our foot and ankles are both strong and flexible.

Enhancing Stability and Function

Through targeted exercises and movements, Pilates physical therapy aims to restore normal foot function by restoring flexibility, enancing coordination and rebuilding strength so that we may walk, run, squat, balance on one leg with ease and pain-free.

Comprehensive Rehabilitation Approach

Incorporating foot core stabilization and lower limb dynamic strengthening into Pilates physical therapy sessions allows for a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation, addressing both the symptoms and underlying causes of foot and ankle pain. Insurance

I am a cash-based physical therapy practice accepting major credit cards, FSA, and HSA. Sales tax is not collected on services rendered.

Due to the in-depth evaluation and time required to properly address your concerns, I do not bill medical insurance and am considered an out-of-network provider on all major private insurance companies.

I will work with you to provide documentation and billing to submit to your insurance and assist in the reimbursement process. After each physical therapy session, you will receive a superbill with all the necessary codes to independently submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
